Pingly — Internet Speed Test (Android)
Last updated: August 17, 2026 · Effective: August 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bluebell Thread LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), the developer listed on the Google Play store listing, collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Pingly Android application (package name: com.op.app.network.pingly) (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
When you run a test, the App measures and records:
Your test history is stored locally on your device so you can compare results over time. Clearing app data or uninstalling the App deletes that history permanently, and we cannot recover it.
To run a meaningful test and label the result, the App reads and processes:
The App does not read your browsing history, the contents of your network traffic, the websites or apps you use, your Wi-Fi password, or any data passing through your connection. A speed test only measures how fast a connection is, not what travels over it.
The App is supported by advertising. Google AdMob processes the Advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device and app information, coarse location derived from IP, and ad interactions (which ads were requested, shown, viewed, and clicked). Where you consent, or where personalized advertising is otherwise permitted, this data may be used to select personalized ads and build advertising profiles. If you do not consent or you opt out of ads personalization, the App still shows ads, but they are non-personalized and selected using contextual signals only.
Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects through the AdMob SDK, under its own privacy policy. The App currently uses no other advertising or mediation network; if we add one, we will update this policy before it goes live.
We use AppsFlyer to understand which campaign or referral led to an install, to measure campaign performance, and to detect install fraud. AppsFlyer processes the Advertising ID and/or App Set ID, an AppsFlyer device identifier, IP address and the coarse country derived from it, device and OS information, Google Play Install Referrer data, install and re-engagement events, and in-app events such as completing a first test. AppsFlyer acts as our processor and shares attribution results with the advertising networks that delivered the campaign.
Our app manifest declares the com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission for advertising and attribution. If you delete or reset your Advertising ID, the App remains fully functional.
If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging generates a device registration token used to deliver messages such as feature announcements or reminders. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings > Apps > Pingly > Notifications, which stops delivery; uninstalling the App invalidates the token.
We use Firebase Remote Config to enable, adjust, or test features without shipping an app update. It uses a pseudonymous app instance identifier and coarse attributes such as app version, country, and language to deliver the correct configuration. It does not access your test history or personal content.
If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any technical details you include, and use them only to respond to your request.
The App does not require account creation. We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), phone number, contacts, SMS, call logs, calendar, photos, files, precise GPS location, health data, or payment information. The App contains no in-app purchases, so we never receive payment or card details. We do not use the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission and do not collect Wi-Fi network names (SSID) or MAC addresses.
A speed test measures your connection by transferring test data between your device and a measurement server. This means:
We do not sell your personal information for money. Because we use advertising and attribution partners, some disclosures may qualify as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law — see Section 10.
The following summarizes the disclosures we make in the Google Play Data safety section:
| Data type | Collected | Shared | Purpose | Optional? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| App activity (tests run, in-app actions, ad interactions) | Yes | Yes | App functionality, analytics, advertising | Required to use the App |
| Device or other IDs (Advertising ID, installation IDs) | Yes | Yes | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention | Can be limited via device settings |
| Approximate location (derived from IP) | Yes | Yes | Labelling results, advertising, fraud prevention | No |
| Crash logs and diagnostics | Yes | Yes | Stability and improvement | No |
| Test results and history | Stored on your device only | No | App functionality | No |
| Other user-generated content (support messages) | Yes — only if you contact us | No | Customer support | Optional |
| Name, email, phone, contacts, files, photos, precise location, payment info, purchase history, SSID | No | No | — | — |
All data we transmit is protected by encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Note that the test traffic itself is deliberately unencrypted throughput data and carries no personal content.

Analytics and attribution providers act as our processors and are contractually restricted from using your data for their own purposes. Google acts as an independent controller for the advertising data it collects through AdMob.
The App does not offer account creation, so there is no account to delete. Most of your data — your test history — lives only on your device and you can delete it yourself at any time from within the App. To request deletion of data held by our analytics and attribution providers, email contact@bluebellthread.com with the subject line "Data deletion request," including your device model and the approximate date you installed the App. We confirm receipt and complete deletion within 30 days, except for records we must retain for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for the data we transmit, and data minimization — we deliberately avoid collecting names, emails, payment data, and precise location. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard practices and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a qualifying breach as required by applicable law.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; to object to or restrict processing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact contact@bluebellthread.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Because we do not hold your name or email, we may be unable to identify you from a request alone; if so, we will tell you rather than act on the wrong records.
California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information for money. However, our use of advertising and attribution partners means we share identifiers and app activity for cross-context behavioral advertising as California defines it. To opt out, opt out of ads personalization or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings, or email us with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." You also have the rights to know, delete, correct, and to non-discrimination. We do not knowingly share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Texas): you have similar rights of access, deletion, correction, and opt-out of targeted advertising, exercisable through the same contact address.
The App is designed for a general audience and is intended for users aged 13 and above, or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable threshold). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact contact@bluebellthread.com and we will delete it promptly.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in other countries, including the United States, Israel, and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum for data transferred out of the EEA and the UK.
If we introduce user accounts, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or additional advertising networks in a future version, we will update this policy — and, where required, ask for your consent — before those features become available.
We may otherwise update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the App or through the Google Play store listing, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
